ROZ'S REVIEW:
AIR SUPPLY SHOWS
Friday 9/17/05
BB King's, NY
8pm- BB Kings Blues Club, NYC. The night of the birthday boy himself BB King, and he wasn't there, but Air Supply was. For 2 sold out shows in one single night. Pretty amazing. Yes I stayed for both show because I can't get enough of them. It was an amazing experience. The night started of of course with their usual Beatles intro, which they can't seem to do without. Air Supply came out in all their glory and looking as incredible as they always have. Starting off their very short set with 2 fantastic new songs: "Remember Me" & "A Little Bit Of Everything". The latter being one of their "latest greatest" sung by Graham of course. They then proceeded to run through very slightly different versions of their classics (most notably being "Even The Nights Are Better") which has gotten more of a beat to it. They remained true to their new material with my new favorite "Faith In Love". As they entertained with each other on & off all night you could see how strong the friendship between Graham Russell & Russell Hitchcock remains after 30 years together. Their bond was never more evident as the NY crowd welcomed them with open arms. They dedicated "Lost In Love" to BB King for his birthday. They greeted their audience in their usual way during "The One That You Love" by going off stage & performing it in the crowd . . . in which Russell let a few fans have some pictures with him. As Graham played his guitar while gliding through the club as best he could, jumping his way on to the stage after his 'a thought of yesterday' line, just in time to lead us all in a rousing chorus of the song. It was a very exciting show indeed. No matter how many times you hear these songs, Air Supply will never be a boring band.
10:30pm- BB Kings, once again.
As close as I was in the
1st show, [with Graham practically singing on top of me!], I moved
even closer for the 2nd round of madness with the boys of Air
Supply. Of course, I knew what I would be seeing & it was
still as if they had played only one show, with the same energetic
pace as their 1st performance only much more intense. The second
show seemed even more packed with fans - all much more excited
to see them - as if they'd never seen them before. We got a treat
as in place of their newer song 'Faith In Love' when we got to
hear 'Chances' in its place, which Russell in his best form. 'Making
Love Out of Nothing At All' has turned into much more of an epic
as Russell demanded the crowd get on their feet for that one,
both times. But not before reminding everyone, "With the
tragedies that have plagued this world in the past weeks . . .
" to love one another & not to forget to tell someone
that you love them, even your pets. Both shows ended with them
being "All Out Of Love' which of course will never happen!
Their sentiments are always real, and you can feel every single
bit of their magic as they can still sing with the vocals that
we all fell in love with them the 1st time we heard them.
They are still as powerful, if not more, than they've ever
been (as evidenced in their new DVD). Let's just hope they come
back for more.

IT WAS AN AMAZING SHOW, all I could do was stare at Graham all night! He'll always be the best. I got to greet Graham, but they couldn't come out bcause there was another show happening at 11:30pm, so they literally got kicked out by the club themselves! Weird.
Here's a cool shot of them courtesy of a great new Air Supply friend I found at the show,
Take care,
Roz
