Early Fan Days Stories . . .
By Sue from Canada:
My Air Supply stories
really only started in September 2001. My friend told
me that she could get "very reasonable" tickets to see
a concert at the
Woodbine Racetrack and Slots in Toronto and that the concert featured
"Air
Supply". I said sure let's go. I did not realize that they
were still
together as a group. Of course I remembered them from the 1980's.
I liked
them then but it was my mother who really liked them and had purchased
an
album of theirs. I remember that she wanted more of their music
but that
she could only find them on cassette. So - that Christmas, my
brother,
sister and I went together and bought her a cassette player so
she could buy
the cassette and listen to more Air Supply. My daughter, at the
time a
young teen, also bought a cassette and listened to them when she
went to bed
at night. As I said, I liked them and thought that their music
was soft and
romantic.
WELL!!!
When my friend and I went
to the concert in September 2001 we were really
amazed. The music was loud and their voices were great!! We were
truly
blown away by their performance - the mere presence of Graham
(so tall and
handsome) and of course the amazing voice of Russell. He was so
cute with
his mop of curly gray hair and the way he played to the audience.
They
actually did 2 shows that night and they were outdoors. Although
we only
had seats for the first show we were able to see the second show
from a bit
farther away but of course we had no trouble hearing them.
Ever since then my friend
and I have checked their website and have gone to
8 more live concerts. We try to go to any concert that is within
driving
distance. We have also purchased 16 CDs, including Russell's solo
album and
the Christmas album.
We first met the boys
in Massillon, Ohio, in July 2003. It was a great thrill
to talk to (and hug and kiss) them and get autographs and pictures.
We got
2 amazing pictures of us with all 5 of the band members. Since
then they
always do their "Meet and Greet" so we have talked to
them several times and
have lots of pictures.
I can hardly wait to get
the new 30th anniversay DVD and the new album or is
it albums.
As you said, "Just start typing". That's all I need to hear.
